Movie As A Mirror For Your Holidays
Connie Britton & Ed Burns in Fitzgerald Family Christmas This Thanksgiving week holiday, I’ve watched Skyfall, Lincoln, Funny People, The Five Year Engagement, Being John Malkovich and Fitzgerald Family Christmas. I wonder what this collection of movies says about me. I love movies. I love watching movies. I love reading about how movies are made. I follow Edward Burns (Writer/Director of Fitzgerald Family Christmas) on twitter. I started following him because... Read More
It’s Never Too Late to Try Your Hardest
This is the 10th blog post in my screenwriting series, it all started here Day 21 – 19,092 words down I’m packing for the Sundance Film Festival! I can only imagine how disappointed I would be with myself if I hadn’t taken on this challenge and I was going back to Sundance without accomplishing much of anything this year. I am so friggin’ happy that I finished the first draft of my very first screenplay. One more look at the awesome-ness of the finished... Read More
Shitty First Drafts & The Hierarchy of Goals
This is the 5th blog post in my screenwriting series, it all started here Paula does a spit take Day 14: Word count= 13,378 (That’s 478 more than my schedule!) I’m starting to worry that I won’t be done with the story by the time I’ve hit my word count. I have the opposite of writer’s block. I have too MUCH to write. That’s a really nice feeling. The story is moving along, however boring it seems. I’m not sure if my writing is matching the... Read More

This is the 4th blog post in my screenwriting series, it all started here my Sundance coffee mug Day 7- 6:30am I woke up thinking I was behind a day in my writing. My house guests left yesterday morning for the airport, but I decided to go skiing and watch movies all day, so no writing for me. I did a little happy dance this morning when I discovered that in my Master Graph Schedule Thingy I had not scheduled any writing yesterday. Yippeeeee! 10:30am I finally finish the... Read More
Interview with Melora Hardin, Actress, Director & Multi-Passionate Performer
Here’s my interview with Melora Hardin, Multi-Passionate Performer, Director & Hot Mogul: Melora Hardin is probably most recognized for her portrayal of “Jan Levinson”, Steve Carell’s rigid former boss and love interest, on the hit NBC series, “The Office,”. She most recently starred in back-to-back #1 weekend theatrical box-office features in “17 Again” opposite Zac Efron and “Hannah Montana: The Movie” alongside Miley Cyrus. Melora also recently... It Ain’t About the Money ~ or is it?
Edward Burns. Portrait by Leslie Hassler. My daughter & I were singing in the car the other day (and dancing at the red lights) when this Jesse J. song came on. Price Tag. Have you heard it yet? (I posted the video & lyrics below for you) The first few lines of her song have been haunting me. “Seems like everybody’s got a price, I wonder how they sleep at night. When the sale comes first, And the truth comes second, Just stop, for a minute and Smile... Read More

I Need to Know If He Dies
The other night my husband, my 13 year old daughter and I decided to watch Apollo 13. My daughter and I have never seen it, my husband, of course, has. I prefer to watch the kind of movies that have really pretty clothes and shoes and you might get ideas for a beautiful new hairstyle or a new way to arrange your furniture while you watch the movie. My husband likes the movies that have lots of things blowing up or crashing or get nominated for awards. I usually find these movies: way... Read More
Avatar-liciousness
I went to see Avatar last night. Actually my husband and daughters dragged me. It certainly did not look like the kind of movie I wanted to see. I don’t like war, killing, thrill-ride-type movies. But I was overruled, so off we went. I really can’t describe the amazing-ness of this movie. Yes, it was a little over-the-top with the war, good vs evil stuff. But there was so much to love. The magical forest James Cameron created is magnificent. The fact that... Read More
