The Ride of Your Life

I love this interview with Patti Smith.  She gives great advice for creative people.  AND she compares life to a rollercoaster ride, (one of my all-time favorite scenes from the movie Parenthood) I’ve included the Parenthood clip below Patti’s interview for your enjoyment.  Have a great day! Here are a few of my favorite quotes from Patti Smith: “Be concerned with doing good work, make the right choices and protect your work.” “It’s part... Read More

Social Media Sabbatical- Update Month 3

3 MONTHS — It’s hard to believe that I’ve been completely off of Facebook and Twitter for this long.  [If you want to read Part 1 of my Social Media Sabbatical, click here, & Part 2 Social Media Sabbatical Day 30-ish click here] It’s become normal.  I don’t tweet. I don’t cruise Facebook updates every other second.   It’s really kinda nice. There have been mornings, when I’m sitting at the kitchen counter, enjoying my Chocolate Teeccino and my husband... Read More

Detox Update-Social Media Sabbatical, Day 30-ish

Social Media Sabbatical ~ it’s been 30 days since my last…. indulgence.:-) [if you want to read Part 1 of my Social Media Sabbatical, click here]   Hi, my name is Sandy and I’m a Facebooking Twitt-aholic The first 2 weeks were the hardest.  It’s really humorous to watch your brain as it thinks in 140 characters and status postings. I find myself wanting to take pictures of a beautiful dessert or a fabulous cocktail and share it, but where do I share... Read More

It Ain’t About the Money ~ or is it?

Edward Burns. Portrait by Leslie Hassler. My daughter & I were singing in the car the other day (and dancing at the red lights) when this Jesse J. song came on. Price Tag. Have you heard it yet? (I posted the video & lyrics below for you)  The first few lines of her song have been haunting me. “Seems like everybody’s got a price, I wonder how they sleep at night. When the sale comes first, And the truth comes second, Just stop, for a minute and Smile... Read More

Yeah, I’m Lazy

I joke quite a bit about being lazy.  I get a lot done, but I also treasure my downtime.  My friends make fun of (and my daughters despise) my “one thing a day” rule.  I don’t like to be over scheduled, so I always build in plenty of time to relax, or if that’s just not possible when I’m working on a big deadline, I make sure to plan something FUN as soon as my deadline is met. The other day my youngest daughter said; “Hey Mom, I heard your... Read More

Today’s Journalution Prompt is an attempt to get you out of that ‘same-old-same-old’ thing and into something a little more fun and faaaaabulous ~ Let’s go! Magical Weekend Pt. 2

Here’s the last little bit of our magical weekend. I had no idea when I put those silly pictures on my vision board that I would somehow magically attract this incredible experience.  An author so rarely gets to see how their work affects other’s lives.  To see the words I wrote highlighted, underlined and *starred* was one of the most memorable moments I’ve ever had. I want you to go write something down right now that will make you feel this good inside... Read More

Relationships

Here’s a video I made about attracting a relationship, it’s a funny story about my friend (who is still with his woman- 3 1/2 years and going strong). Sorry about the camera, it was on auto-focus and freaking out a bit.  Read More

Ocean Blue

I filmed this from my balcony when we lived on Fort Lauderdale Beach.  I loved, loved, loved waking up every morning and watching the sunrise on the ocean, every day was different, beautiful, magnificent. The words in the middle of the video are from a poem I wrote called “Ocean Blue”. That poem just came tumbling out of me while watching the sunrise on a boat in the middle of the ocean.  One of the last lines is: “If I could commune with my Ocean Blue everyday,... Read More
