Get Clear, Baby

I woke up feeling really heavy, like all of the good energy had been sucked out of my body. I had finished unpacking all of the boxes in my office, my desk was fairly organized, but I was completely unmotivated. It dragged on for several days, maybe more than a week. And then one day, I returned from a walk, enjoying the beautiful Colorado weather and I noticed that as soon as I walked into my office, all of the wonderful energy I was feeling from my brisk morning exercise completely disappeared.

I knew immediately what it was.

Years and years of someone else’s energy was hanging around in my office! I ran to the garage, returned to my office with 6 giant boxes that I filled with all of the books that did not belong to me. It took my husband & I several hours of lifting, pushing, grunting and sweating to get them all out of there. But now my office feels amaaaazing! You can see by the picture (above) that I had to add photos & candles to my own book collection to arrange the shelves. There is still a lot of empty space in here and that’s the point!

I created space: space for new ideas, new projects and amazing new opportunities to be born. I created space to sit on my couch and wonder and dream and journal and take naps. Today I woke up at 5am and just came down here with my steaming cup of café mocha and sat on my couch and watched the sunrise over the snow-capped mountains. (a perfect moment!)

So now it’s your turn to clear some space, baby!

  1. Look around your work space. Does it fill you with creative energy? Or drag you down in the dungeon?
  2. What can you remove from your space right now that you don’t love? Is there a pile of papers that need to be filed? Did someone else leave their stuff all around your Empire headquarters? (my daughters leave their shoes & socks in my office and I tell them “If you want to visit my Empire you must be respectful of the energy I’ve created in here. No fighting. No leaving your stuff around.”) I even had to kick my husband out one day when he was stressed out about something. I don’t want that energy sticking to my office!
  3. Light a candle and walk all around your work space. Move the energy around. Clear out the old & make room for the new. Set the intention that your work space be filled with brilliant ideas, clarity & lots of abundance! (always, as my friend & publisher, Marc Allen says; in an “easy & relaxed manner, in a healthy & positive way for the greater good of all”)

Go do great things! And don’t forget to Live Fabulous Now, baby!
